News > Johnny Deekay wins remix contest and rocks Fedde even higher

It was a long time coming. Over 400 entries, week’s worth of production skills and thousands of people voting across the www.feddelegrand.com community. Now after some serious A&R sessions deep within the bowels of Flamingo Recordings, the winner of the massive Fedde le Grand Rockin’ High remix competition is about to see his efforts put into full release.

There had to be one winner and it was Johnny Deekay’s blend of skipping beats, funked up baselines, individual riff and dynamism that grabbed the judge’s attention, Fedde included.

We were looking for originality, structure, build up and the general sound,” said Fedde. “Johnny’s break down was massive, it’s the kind of thing I look for in a track, that moment when the tune collapses on itself and you know the dance floor is going to blow up. He got it perfectly.”

Johnny’s remix of Rockin’ High will receive its official Beatport release through Flamingo Recordings today (November 1st ). He joins illustrious company in the shape of Nicky Romero and Benny Benassi, who both remixed Fedde’s Rockin’ High earlier this year to devastating effect. Only time will tell if Johnny will use this golden opportunity to reach theirs’, and Fedde’s, heady heights.

You can download the track on Beatport now.
