Couldn't it be that your primary sound card has more latency? and Hz, maybe it has less Hz or whatever it's called. I'm not familiar with Ableton, so I have no idea where to look for the preferences etc. to change that, but I know in FL Studio that it is dependent on those things. I think the latency could be the thing.
Guys this is exact the same problem as I have.. I'm joining a remix contest and I have to send my remix by July 3rd. I need your help asap;-)! Does anyone know what to do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,
I produce in Ableton and I switched my soundcard to ASIO. When I change back to the primair soundcard, the arrangement sounds bad. (not that clear as with asio, it's to deep and there are too little high tones.) the problem is that when I export track, the quality is the same as when I produce with the primair card... (because my laptop drives on the primair card I think)
Anyone tips?
Thanx
